Why did I choose Legal Management:
I took this course because it is my passion. I have always wanted to take up business, and I thought that the extra law classes can be useful in the future.
About my college education:
The most difficult subjects were accounting and philosophy. The most difficult project was our marketing paper. The exams for accounting were extremely difficult. There were people who failed and had to repeat the subject. For philosophy, it was difficult because we have a one-on-one oral exam but very few people fail.
I enjoyed making our own business the most because it was more practical, and we also made money.
You need to be good at communicating your thoughts (speaking, writing, and presenting) and at reading comprehension. You also need to be a good leader and follower at the same time, be good at teamwork, be resourceful, and hardworking.
My current job:
I work as an assistant manager at our family business, which is in the fabric and furnishing industry.
I manage the store, ensure that it is presentable, and that the employees are doing their jobs.
Am I using what I learned in college:
Some are practical but some are not. I use what I learn in basic accounting and marketing are the most useful.
How long did it take to find a job:
Within two months, around 3 to 4 companies had given me job offers. But I had to decline all of them as I am already set to work in my family business.
Do I recommend studying Legal Management:
Yes, of course. In terms of employment opportunities, being a Legal Management graduate from Ateneo de Manila University is a competitive strength as you have a background in marketing, accounting and law. Salary offers are very competitive.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course:
Just enjoy your stay at Ateneo, and remember that college isn’t just about academics. I recommend that you become active in organizations because it’s a huge plus when you graduate. As long as you work hard, you’ll be fine. Try at least one terror professor because they’re really good at teaching, and they’ll make your stay more memorable. Enjoy it! Live it!
