With four specialized tracks to suit the academic interests, potentials, and aptitude of students, an educational sojourn in the University of San Carlos’ Department of Political Science translates into academic empowerment for the following career paths:
1. The A.B. In PoSc Major in Political Theory and Systems, with it's fortified foundation in critical thinking and discipline can usher the PoSc graduate into the halls of the academe as instructors or university professors, as incisive political opinion-makers or policy consultants and researchers.
2. The A.B. In PoSc Major in Public Management and Development program is designed for students who would like pursue a career as political scientists, public administrators, policy-makers, organizational managers whether public, private or non-government, and as advocates of participatory governance and development.
3. The A.B. In PoSc Major in Law and Policy Studies track is the ideal, if not the best, pre-law course for students who intend to become lawyers. With the program’s incisive and critical treatment of the major branches and perspectives of the law and policy tempered with a blend of legalist and alternative instructional approach, graduates will have an edge in career options in legal or policy advocacy or as court mediators, labor arbitrators, paralegals, legal researchers, court personnel and even as politicians.
4. The A.B. In PoSc Major in International Relations and Foreign Service is designed for students with keen interest and potentials in the conduct of foreign relations as part of the Philippine Foreign Service particularly as foreign service officers who may be diplomatic and/or consular officers, foreign service staff officers, foreign service staff employees or protocol officers, or as international development workers/advocates, researchers or academicians.
